Posted by William A. Padron on Tue Apr 24 08:42:15 2012 And so, seventy-five years ago today, the Independent Subway System (or the IND) extended its Queensboro line towards the Jamaica section in the borough of Queens. Four new stations opened on that date back then: Van Wyck Boulevard, Sutphin Boulevard, Parsons Boulevard and 169th Street. At first, "E" trains began using that route at the time. Today, it is the "F" train that make all stops in that section, but there are the "E" trains stop at Van Wyck Boulevard (except on weekdays until 7:30pm) plus limited rush hour service to/from 179th Street (alternating with its current full time terminal at Parsons/Archer-Jamaica Center). -William A.
