Similar platform signs for the G & N to JC were at 67th and 75th. I recall wondering how they were going to deal with layups on the express tracks. Presumably they would have had to run the Hillside express at least as far as Parsons until after the N stopped around 8PM. Or, they could have cut the N back to Continental after rush and somehow fit the E, F & G on the local. The big problem with the G & N to JC, however, was they were locals and there would have been a mass exodus to the E & F at Van Wyck and Union Tpk. It would have made more sense at the time to send the E and the N to JC and the F & G to 179th. Cut the G & N to Continental starting at like 6:30-7PM. |
