As far as triplexs' running to Forest Hills, I'm thinking in terms of regular service.
I was a kid growing up in Woodside & when my folks took me on the "Independent" as they called it, getting on as 65th st, I rode it often. I never saw a D type running there, just R 1/9s & standards

What struck me was the lack of front end destinations or route numbers or letters on the standards, often wondering how you knew what train you were getting on. Id ask my old man & he'd say, "you see a train commin in without nuttin in front, it was the BMT"

Ah yes, the simple times. Forget about destination signs of P A's. Back then, if you knew the equiptment, you'd get on the right train
