The nighttime "G" shuttle would be from Jamaica Center to Van Wyck Blvd. If that was to happen, what would serve the Crosstown Line?"When just prior to the opening of the Archer Avenue extension, there were actual signs made up to have "N" trains (and nighttime "G" shuttles)" Actually, there were legitimate station signs of the G and N trains at Union Turnpike/Kew Gardens. I remember seeing those around 1986-87. Until the late 1980's, there were several signs at that station which displayed the E,F,G,N running there. I wonder why those signs were put up in the first place. The sign said that both the G and N (no R, as this plan was well before the R ran to Continental Ave in '87) were supposed to go to Jamaica Center, but I never seen that happened. The Archer Avenue Subway was already done by this point (Construction ended in late 1983/early '84). Also, back in 2007, when I waited at the Van Wyck (Briarwood) station, I could of see the old G sign that has been covered with the new service sticker which said "To Archer Ave". |
