Its funny - Van Wyck Boulevard opened as a station on this extension in 1937 but by 1950, the roadway for which it was named was gone, swallowed whole by the southern portion of Robert Moses' Van Wyck Expressway. Despite the passage of 62 years, the station was never renamed and its still one of the prime examples of an obsolete station name in the system.
