I especially loved the 'cowboys' who would depart Roosevelt at full speed and keep the throttle wide open all the way through the curves west of 65th St station - full power until approaching the timers just east of 36th St station. They were few and far between.

Then there were the 'Cautious Cals", who would power off at the bottom of the hill right at the entrance to 65th St station (or some even earlier in the middle of the down slope between Roosevelt and 65th) and coast all the way down until the aforementioned curves.

FYI, during the power crisis of the 70s, there was a square 'C' sign on that slope before 65th St where the motorman were required to shut off and coast by rule. The signs are probably not there now.
