Re: Question About Pre-1950 Rockaway Beach/Far Rockaway LIRR Service

Posted by Spider-Pig on Wed Feb 17 13:12:19 2021, in response to Question About Pre-1950 Rockaway Beach/Far Rockaway LIRR Service, posted by Mitch45 on Wed Feb 17 11:32:50 2021.

IINM, the service pattern prior to the trestle fire that ended service was that trains ran local from Flatbush Avenue to Rockaway Beach, and express trains (express from Ozone Park to past Broad Channel) ran from Penn Station to Penn Station via Far Rockaway and completed the loop.

Trains stopped at Ozone Park to provide transfers, with trains stopping one in front of the other for a down-platform (or up-platform) transfer.

This means that the Hammels Wye was not ordinarily used.

I hope someone can correct me on all of this.
