Not only that but late at night when I occasionally had to take the train home to Valley Stream the N4 bus on Merrick Road did not run. It's only in recent years that it runs 24/7. I don't know about the N6 as I no longer live along that line. I found that going to Lower Manhattan the N4/J train would take about 1:45 in the AM rush hour. The same trip on the LIRR to Brooklyn and the 4/5 to Bowling Green would take a little over one hour. I used to take the bus/subway route during snow events when the LIRR tended to be unreliable before the M7 cars took over about 20 years ago. |
