I do remember those Babylon super expresses that only stopped at Freeport, and often connected to diesel trains at Babylon. They carried decently in the summer with people transferring to the Jones Beach bus at Freeport, but were pretty empty otherwise. So the LIRR’s vision for weekend Westbury service is to ultimately have one train an hour to Ronkonkoma and one train an hour to Huntington? Besides that, I never understood why that station only sees hourly service either. Westbury has long been one of the more transit and pedestrian-friendly communities in Long Island, and that station’s ridership certainly reflects it. |
