Re: Question About Pre-1950 Rockaway Beach/Far Rockaway LIRR Service

The loadings numbers I remember when I lived on that branch in the 1980's was 1,800 per day. About 600 each for Westwood and Malverne, the rest scattered among the other three. If West Hempstead had 200, they could well have lost half of it since, especially if they work on the 53rd Street corridor, and were already buying a Metrocard. It then becomes a free N6 bus ride as opposed to $270 for the LIRR, and no backtracking from 34th Street to Fifth or Lex Avenue. Hunterspoint connections, since Ronkonkoma electrified, suck.
