Re: Question About Pre-1950 Rockaway Beach/Far Rockaway LIRR Service

Thanks Joe. I do remember riding trains straight from Brooklyn to Long Beach (and Hempstead) when I was younger, and never was quite able to remember when those Long Beach trains were diverted to Penn Station and replaced with Far Rockaway trains. I remember during the summer those Long Beach trains would fill up Jamaica, but be pretty much empty otherwise.

I also remember Huntington trains running every hour, and running a skip-stop pattern between New Hyde Park and Hicksville with Ronkonkoma trains too, but don't remember when that stopped either.

I wonder how the LIRR was able to come up with the slots in Penn Station for those extra off-peak Long Beach and Huntington trains.
