Out of the 40,000 or so marchers we got together for last week's overwhelmingly peaceful demonstration, about sixty were yelling "Kill Cops" and all of them were marching with a different, separate group from ours.

No one wants to see the cops hurt or killed; what we are advocating for is better training, better supervision, and better treatment of people of color by the police. None of this is unreasonable.

How quickly everyone here forgets that I am the son of a police officer, and even my dad agrees that the Garner case got way out of hand. He thinks Pantaleo should have been indicted, too.

That said, what a horrible thing to befall the two cops and their families, at any time of year, but especially during the Holiday season.
