Montauk line can not be taken over as you have been told over and over again. It is of vital importance for freight.

LIRR only needs one of the Atlantic or Montauk Lines between VALLEY and HALL. You can even add on the fictional ESA numbers and they still don't know what to do with all of that trackage.

Also, can LIRR afford giving up track to the subway for an Archer extension?

Of course. LIRR is nowhere near track capacity, and a rapid transit operation would bring one-seat rides and much quicker commutes to SE Queens while generating ridership numbers that LIRR couldn't even dream of.
