I've actually thought for a while now that the WH-CLP ROW should be rebuilt and the WH line should run intra-island service only (Valley Stream-Nassau Hub).The West Hempstead Branch alignment is almost as useless as useless gets. I have myself entertained thoughts of doing something more useful with it, but the reality is that it's good for a few peak trains per day with people within walking distance using it, and that's really it. Nassau Hub service might be nice, but I'm skeptical that formidable NIMBY forces can be overcome and also skeptical of further large scale development there. |
