Guy, what is wrong with this stressed frame nonsense? Everyone here keeps talking about stressed frames and whining about how the old cars have stressed frames. Here is how it really is: The frames themselves on the well built old cars don't bend, which means they don't suffer much fatigue, as many imbecils here imply. The parts that experience fatigue are the parts like the bolsters, and trucks, all of which are replaceable. Now, some newer railcars have flexible bodies, and no frames, and THEY suffer fatigue in reality, especially the NTTs.
