i am thinking of a SMEE type system which works with AC motors, rather than DC. If necessary, i will convert them to DC motors. It won't be so simple to do, but in the long run there will be a cost benefit.

I am also contemplating wether or not i should abandon the resistor grids for DC chopper control. It won't be SMEE in the sense that we know it, with resistor grids and all, but it will be a simple, and robust system. Probably will stick with regular SMEE with resistor grids.
