Well, those R38's looked exactly the same like any other R38. This was done sometime in 1999. I learned them from general knowledge, Train Dude would know more about this.That train did have SMEE braking, but it was different. A few things you would notice when riding this train was, 1) The transition from power to coast to braking will be smoother. 2) A slight delay will be felt when moving the Master Controller from Power to Coast. This is a result of the power being gradually reduced, rather then it being cut off immediately. 3) This A/C propulsion would make a whining noise that changes frequently as the speed changes. 4) And the Ammeter in the cab would not be operable. |
