The doctors and nurses have that privilege. Ancillary staff must rely on company rules. It is rather difficult to get fired from there but possible. At this moment, of the four hospitals that they own, there are nearly 500 openings with at least 100 of them for nurses. Lots of tunrover and lots of part time positions. Not many positions are filled with full time people when they are vacated. Then if a part timer doesn't show up (as in get hired), they will leave the duties of that person to whomever is left behind. I currently work two distinct full time positions rolled into one.
