People, I am a total neophyte when it comes to the science of stressing metals and fatigue. But in the course of one's life, encountering things along the way, one learns things. I know that frame fatigue is a reality. I know that any subway car will eventually wear out. I don't have to be a transit employee anywhere to know this. But when a person starts spewing about the superiority of one car over another, and the call people names, it's time to call in a professional. Someone preferably in the medical field with letters after their name. I personally would love to have been able to chronicle a PATH car being used in the NY system. To see if it could hold up as well as any car built from any NY contract. I really enjoy the exchanges with all of the contributors here. That's what makes it great. People outside the business learning from those inside. I was born on top of two different rail system. We saw, heard and rode trains with great regularity. Anyway, this Journal-Square person (who has that nasty, dirty and extreme temperature station he has chosen for a name) must be quite insecure about the PATH system. He/she obviously would love to call the shots on that system. Of course, because that will never happen he shares his rather eclectic knowledge of what he thinks it should be. There are many publications out there about this subject and it has been said time and time again, New York's subway system may not be the biggest or the cleanest at every stop, but it is still classified as the BEST IN THE WORLD. The tiny Path with it's handful of stops is a quaint little line with some odd looking rolling stock. I think Boston bought this same design, didn't they? I would love to see the PATH expand and run more places. You see? Most of the people discussing this system are just having a discussion. They are not OBSESSING. I would love to ride every system in the world! The next system I am planning on riding is the London Underground because my wife was born there, has family there and we are planning to go next year. Wow, I'm running off at the mouth. Forgive me for drooling.
