In the auto industry, Canada and Mexico are considered parts of the American (as opposed to foreign) market. The new Ford Fusion, as an example, is considered a domestic car even though it's built in Mexico. Even stranger, the Chrysler 300 is also considered a domestic car even though Chrysler is German-owned and the car is built in Canada
On the other hand, cars built in the United States by foreign companies other than Chrysler are considered imports. This is true even for car models sold only in the United States, for example the Nissan Armada or Honda Accord (the foreign version of the Accord, sold here as the Acura TSX, is very different from the American version).
