There are already bellmouths in place N/O 63 Dr station on Qns Blvd for the express purpose of connecting to the Rockaway Line. Had certain events not taken place over the years, it’s likely that the Rockaway Line would connect to the IND at 63 Dr and Liberty Jct would not have been built. As I have mentioned in a few post on this topic, a B of T report from 1950 on new subway lines indicates that although the connection at Liberty Jct was planned, it was supposed to coexist with the connection from Qns Blvd at Whitepot Jct. At the risk of mentioning it, that same report indicates that the original plan to connect the LIRR ROW to the IND from an extended Pitkin Ave through 76 St had by that time been abandoned and replaced by what became Liberty Jct. |
