The rest of the RBB wasn’t immediately bustituted but remained as an LIRR line as far as Ozone Pk fo a few years after the iND takeover. Right around the time of the IND takeover, the TA was in the middle of resignaling the west and east side IRT subway and replacing most of the prewar IRT rolling stock so there wasn’t really enough money for anything else. Keep in mind also that at that time new subway lines and rolling stock were property of the City of NY and not the TA and much of the money intended for new subway lines and infrastructure improvements was diverted to subway car purchases instead. |
