Queens Blvd Express trains were always packed, but 8-car Locals were not. They, especially the GG, was deigned to feed expresses at Express stops.One of the Locals, probably the BMT one, would have been diverted from Forest Hills onto the Rockaway Beach Line. I don't think they anticipated very heavy ridership, which is why they decided to forget about it, simply do Liberty Jct, and bustitute the rest. MP54's were 65' long and 13'6" tall with the box vents or box headlights. That is too tall for the subway. |
