Of all the rail transit expansions that have occurred througout the US in the past few decades, to the best of my knowledge there have been zero proven cases of crime rates rising to a notable extent in areas that received rail service. Some people in suburban Baltimore had been claiming that a couple light rail stations were attracting criminals to the areas, this has been disproven. It makes sense. Criminals may not be the smartest bunch, but they surely can figure out that train cars make the world's worst getaway vehicles. |
