Yep. But for those of us who know what was going on at the time, The MTA was actively looking for any and all "museum cars" and looking to scrap ALL of them. Lots of games had to be played to hide the few which survived throughout the system, and there were pretty serious limits on hiding places for them. We're VERY lucky that we have anywhere NEAR as many survivors as we do today. Really.

And what remained of the other Q cars were in desperately serious deterioration "bad order." That they managed to save three units capable of being restored in any way was its own miracle.

I'm sure Randy will elaborate on the details of the Herculean effort it took just to have what we still have.
