I don't know.

30 grams added sugar. I need to measure that because I'm on the borderline of prediabetic.

I don't measure other carbs, but it's way more than 20.

Poor Dave. This is why you struggle. You think someone like her has any credibility.

Keto works for a lot of people. Not just the obese, but diabetics, autistic children, cancer patients, autoimmune diseases, etc........

But it has drawbacks like the "keto flu". It's a restrictive diet and I don't like people who live on the diet for weight loss or to be part of a fad.

But it works amazingly for weight loss so I can see why it's gaining traction. It's not much different than Atkins, or Vince Gironda the bodybuilding guru who advocated such a diet decades ago.

If you are borderline pre-diabetic, shouldn't you know carbs? It's probably the main macro you should be counting.

I'd brown a pound of ground beef and eat just that for the day. If you do this maybe twice a week you'll see your labs improve. I'd also find a good source of bacon. Bacon is great for weight loss, fighting diabetes, and increasing T.

A tbsp of grass-fed butter daily too.

I also have very small plaques on my carotid arteries. Saturated fat encourages those.

The problem with AlM is that he has minor plaque buildup AND is prediabetic so you'd think he'd link the two together and realize that his carb loading over the decades has caused all this damage.

Today I am doing Keto.

3 egg yolks
1 lb ground beef
2 thick strips bacon
1 pieces of goat cheese mozzarella
1 tbsp butter

some dates.

I made garlicky ground beef using the bacon fat to brown the beef.

But tomorrow I'll carb up with pasta.

People like Jillian Michaels are why America has an obesity epidemic.

Today I'm doing Keto. You should do it at least two days a week to offset carbs in your diet the other days.

Beef. Cheese. Butter. Egg yolks. Bacon. Salmon. Chicken.

I'm also doing a no vegetable experiment.. But I do eat some fruit. So far so good.

Today I had 2oz bran flakes, half a cup non homogenized milk, 4oz blue berries and two strips English bacon for breakfast. Lunch was 6oz garden salad with lime vinaigrette and chili lime chicken strips (pan roasted with half a teaspoon olive oil the night before, then chilled). 300 calorie single scoop black raspberry ice cream cone post hike. Dinner's 4oz sirloin tips grilled with a onion mushroom confit, and Irish chips from a local pub, red wine. Wanted a protein load for muscle healing post hike.

Notice that I got a slew of antioxidants and keep the meats lean. I microwave bacon on paper towels as it minimizes the fat by drained no it away. Bacon comes out crispy but not greasy or fatty. Protein isn't gobs of fat.

LOL. Considering the fact that there is an epidemic of clogged arteries and we all got there NOT eating the diet I now follow, I'd say it was the "heart healthy" grains that did more damage than anything else.

Where's the antioxidants? Vitamins?

I do eat a lot of blueberries and peaches as long as my sugar intake is under 30 grams. 10 ounces gets me right around that point.

Butter has vitamins and is good for gut health.

You should not discard drained bacon fat. You should use it to grease the pan when making meat. Or in my case I make so much of it I pour it in a cup and flavor it and just eat it as a snack when I need energy. Never waste bacon fat.

You're out of your mind. And headed for a MCI. You should be eating a Mediterranean diet given your genetic Cline. Lots of vegetables. Whole grains. Plant based oils (olive). Meats, mostly seafoods. Low fat. Wine.

I am carb loading tomorrow for tennis. Design diet around intended activity. Enjoy yummy foods, especially plant based. Gonna do fruit for breakfast. Maybe a mimosa for fun. It's Sunday. Getting a new kayak on Tuesday. Can't wait! Gonna take it out and acclimate to a new ride. Wish I could get the Impex, but hey, I'm on a budget.

People who get advice from Jillian Michaels and a show like Biggest Loser are doomed. People like Jillian Michales and that show are part of the reason why obesity and diabetes are epidemic.

You should be eating a Mediterranean diet given your genetic Cline. Lots of vegetables. Whole grains. Plant based oils (olive). Meats, mostly seafoods. Low fat. Wine.

I'm eating pretty much no vegetables. Just some garlic and white pepper to season foods like ground beef.

I do have organic California Olive Oil crushed in November. But I did not crave it today.

I will eat some organic pasta tomorrow because I like it and feel like I am not getting enough calories when I do low carb every day.

NO, the problem is too many don't follow that advice. Yes, I do need to pack protein when I'm doing heavy exercise like mountain climbing. I am also a cancer patient in recovery, and need to rebuild throng muscle. This is an exception, not a rule.

You are not. You keep that up and we'll watch your recovery from bypass before much longer.

Even though I have a naturally high cholesterol level, it's stable, my diet's low fat and high antioxidant and I work out like there's no tomorrow. Do you know about inflammation? That is a major factor in coronary artery disease...

It's grains that have been the biggest source of calories in the American diet over the decades, not animal fat.

As we kept lowering animal fat intake and falling for brilliant marketing "wholesome whole grains" and "low fat" and "cholesterol free" we got fatter and sicker.

Grains, vegetable oils, and sugar are probably contributing to cancer a lot more than bacon and butter, but let's not offend in the area of diet.

That's why supermarkets stock so much low-fat dairy, whole grain bread, whole grain cereal, and tons of heart healthy cholesterol free oils to replace animal fat.

Honestly I'm selfishly happy that people are thinking like you because I don't want a beef or butter shortage. Less competition for healthy food is good for me and that's all that counts.

No, it,s that too many Americans live on junk food. When I want junk food (like those yummy chips) I usually make my own. But this pub where I get the chips uses vegetable source oil to fry (and their fish & chips is to die for!) and low salt. So from time to time, I indulge.

ADULTS need to limit their intake of dairy. Kids need dairy. Adults do not.

Wrong. A plant based diet is natural and healthy for adults.

Only children under 2 need a fat intake of roughly 50% of their diet. That percentage need st9 reduce throughout one's life for a healthy lifespan.

My current diet aims for 50% fat just to say fuck you to dietary guidelines of low-fat eating which is not a good strategy.

Keto is actually hard to do even though I said I was doing keto today after eating 1 lb of ground beef. Protein can knock you out of ketosis.

But plenty of fat is good for men and our hormone levels. Declining T and endless ads for blue pills has much to do with men eating too many whole grains, sugar, plant based oils, and not enough steak, eggs, butter, bacon, cheese, etc......

Yours is worse. Acting like a baby while in adulthood is a recipe for coronary artery disease. It's stupid, plain and simple.

Adults require roughly 25-30% fat max in the diet. Take it from there. Bacon is actually unnatural. But it’s tasty and fun. Cool for brunch. Not for lunch more than once a month. Think of that as a good rule. It's not a dietary staple.

No problem for those who spend 2K cal on mountain climbing. Done that lately? Given the sole mountain in FL is called trashmore, Given it’s a couple hundred miles from you, I’d guess not.
