That is a totally false statement. TWU contracts run until superceded on their schedules, in this case from 2002 until present, not until it expired without a renewal. By your statement, if it is right for TA to not honor an expired agreement because the union went on strike, then why not throw management in jail and annuling the existing pre strike contract for not honoring the OPTO agreement where Adelman told TA they had to keep C/Rs on the long trains? In that case TA violated the PERB agreements to binding arbitration. What do you know about the Taylor LAw in Kansas, do you even have Taylors in Kansas?

Hey Ron do you have any idea how long it takes to train C/R's and T/O's?

Another Point what about the Tower Operators? You are gonna fire them too?

Signal Maintainers, shit-can them as well?

Track Workers, Clip them also?

Thrid Rail,Give em Pink Slips?

Infrastructure, give them thier last paychecks?

Power and Lighting fire em all?

Lets not forget about Surface Operations...

The are ALL in TWU local 100..

Ron RTO for the LAST time is not all about T/O's and C/R's you better start doing some more research there...

P.S it takes TIME to Properly TRAIN all of the Titles i just mentioned...

Not to mention you think its easy learning how to be a Signal Maintainer?

Or working with Third rails?

Or Power and Lighting?

Even a C/R and T/O training takes at least 4 to 5 months of Schoolcar and Posting, so-called "Easy Jobs"(Especially T/O) that Collage Graduates have trouble making it Past Schoolcar...

Use some common sense here Ron stop being so biased..

That's all well and good for the Creedmore branch, but that's not what happened with the Rockaway Line. The Rockaway line was never even officially "abandoned", rather, in 1962 it was put into "disuse". Of course, for all intents and puposes, it of course is abandoned, however, none of the ROW was sold off like a railroad would usually do once they abandon a line.

People only go to the Nathan's in Coney Island as a tourist attraction because it's the famous original one. Why would it become a tourist attraction as a normal average fast food restaurant in Brighton Beach? There are Nathan's everywhere, and only the one in Coney Island is a tourist attraction.

I'd find this particular line very useful myself -- might be a light rail line from the Sheepshead Bay subway station (inside fare control) across the Bay and along the waterfront to the KCC campus.

If you want a glitzy trolley to attract tourists, put it somewhere the tourists might want to go. I'm looking for a form of transportation that will provide a good alternative to the unreliable and crush loaded buses to the campus.

I disagree with you on this one. While I'm all for light rail, exactly how do you intend to route it from the Station to the Bay? 12th Street Bridge? I'm assuming you intend to use part of the sidewalk area along Shore Blvd which I think is more suitable for a bike path instead of the stupid bike lane on Oriental Blvd no one wanted.

And with the "crush loaded" buses, there is hardly enough demand here to justify a light rail line. Theoretically, you can always run more buses and make them more reliable.

You say put a glitzy trolley where tourists might want to go. About ten years ago a trolley was proposed along Emmons Avenue connecting Coney Island and Sheepshead Bay. I think that makes more sense because it could serve commuters as well as tourists (assuming a redeveloped Coney Island which is in the works) if it is coupled with free or low cost parking either near Knapp Street or Floyd Bennett Field. The commuters would come from the Rockaways and utilize the Sheepshead Bay Station. The only downside is that for a portion of the route the light rail couldn't operate on an exclusive right of way.

But to Kingsborough? No way.

Queens Blvd can afford to loose a lane in each direction.

Woodhaven Blvd, though with the Rockaway ROW so close, the Rockaway ROW would be a much better choice.

I'm sure there are a few places in the Bronx where they can squeeze in LRT. Possibly in Brooklyn as well, especially if/when they sink the Gowanus.

Since the area is already so conjested along the area South of the LIE, it would not make any sense to run an LRT down at grade level. Maybe if it were somehow elevated with concrete structures, then YES. But the de-activate part of the roadway, that would never fly for the affected communities. Light Rail do offer greater flexiblites that a heavy-rail application.

Queens Blvd can afford to loose (sic) a lane in each direction.

I disagree, although they can remove the parking on the left side of the service road and eat into the median, that might be fine.

Ironically I feel that Woodhaven Blvd could stand to lose a lane in each direction, though unnecessary with the Rockaway Line of course.

I still don't see why there is an issue here. It worked fine for so many years when the LIRR just had the as "Brooklyn Manor" so why change it? We are not reviving to "subway standards" anyways. We are talking about either using LRT or bringing back the LIRR through there.

Queens Blvd can afford to loose a lane in each direction.

Yes, but where does this LRV go? Just along Queens Blvd? Isn't there already subway in the area? Seems useless to me.

Woodhaven Blvd, though with the Rockaway ROW so close, the Rockaway ROW would be a much better choice.

Right, the Rockaway ROW would be a better choice for a Heavy Rail line that would be able to run directly into manhattan using existing tunnels.

I'm sure there are a few places in the Bronx where they can squeeze in LRT. Possibly in Brooklyn as well, especially if/when they sink the Gowanus.

We aren't talking about places where it will merely fit. We're talking about places where it makes sense to put it. None of these places you mentioned fit that description.

Queens Blvd doesn't need light rail, as the subway is already there. What would make more sense would be the complete revamping of the Q60 bus route by adding short-turns at strategic locations for increased reliability.

Because nobody from outside "Brooklyn Manor" knows that the differentiation even exists, and would assume it to be in Brooklyn. I myself never knew about Brooklyn Manor until I saw an empty QM23 express bus signed up for it.

Why make it more difficult than it needs to be? Leave it as Jamaica Avenue.

Change what? There's nothing there, and hasn't been for over 40 years! There is no reason to use a station name that hasn't been there for 5 decades. Not to mention, that the LIRR as a commuter operation uses neighborhood/town names. Most rapid transit uses street names.
