That's all well and good for the Creedmore branch, but that's not what happened with the Rockaway Line. The Rockaway line was never even officially "abandoned", rather, in 1962 it was put into "disuse". Of course, for all intents and puposes, it of course is abandoned, however, none of the ROW was sold off like a railroad would usually do once they abandon a line. |
