As said, it's because he DOESN'T WANT TO THINK SO!He just does not get how the new V improves service for many people. Speaking of the new line, one thing I would be looking at for instance if the C is on a G.O. on the weekends (and the V normally would only be a shuttle between Myrtle-Metropolitan) would be to have the V extended and replace the C going uptown. That would be a perfect way to test whether weekend service is warranted on the new V. |

Do you have any evidence that it doesn't..outside of the fact that you will lose your beloved V train waiting for you? It's a wonder how you manage on the weekends, when it isn't running..or before it even began service.. I mean seriously..this is beyond ridiculous now. You've had F service at THAT STATION since 1940...and you will CONTINUE to have F SERVICE far into the future..while Eastern Division riders WON'T HAVE SERVICE to South Brooklyn anymore, something we've had since the Centre St subway opened...meaning I will lose MY ONE SEAT RIDE. Which would I rather have more? I'd rather have the option of UPTOWN AND DOWNTOWN service...rather than making several transfers to get where I need to go..Backtracking. You see,son..the MTA is finally doing us a favor..creating something that will be USEFUL to it riders, without being redundant.. I KNOW this very hard for to digest..its like someone coming to play in YOUR personal playpen..without being invited..but tolerated..perhaps due to some since of misguide honor that You are doing US a favor by ALLOWING US to ride with you. I don't like the service cuts anymore than you do..perhaps less so..as it will slice and dice subway AND bus lines in my nab. Cuts HURT people...much more than it will help the MTA. As it stands..these cuts will hurt my neighborhood much more than yours...so for what its worth..you have NOTHING TO WHINE about compared to North Brooklyn residences. I know you will continue to play this game..but if you REALLY OBJECT to the service changes..go directly to the MTA with your complaint LIKE I,and I sure OTHERS,will. It may not do much.or help at all..but at least I know They will have heard my VOICE and MY ANGER... Maybe you should think about that. |

From October 1967 to December 2001 (34 years), the 2nd Avenue station was served solely by the F train 24 hours a day. For 34 years, people got along just fine at 2nd Avenue with just the F train. |

Lets see, Current M riders looking for midtown will stay on the V while J riders looking for midtown, especially if they know the V skips 2nd Avenue will likely just stay on the platform at Essex and take the V there.Yes and no. I expect J and Z riders to still (mostly) x-fer to the F at Essex since it runs more frequently and old habits are hard to break. |

Just for the record, the area around 2nd Avenue has seen a noticible population growth in the last six years. You have Avalon Chrystie & Bowery Place (huge buildings I might add) and of course The Ludlow on Ludlow and Houston Streets. In addition, tourists use that station to go to Katz Delicatessen (its noted that is mostly tourists who go there). Try doing a bit of research to see how things changed where 2nd Avenue station is. |

As for the new buildings, I'll give you that, but I lived for 15 years in the densest part of Manhattan (Upper East Side) with only the 6 train at 77th/Lex in my case, so I have little sympathy for your losing the V when you still have the F. |

That's wonderful how much the area has changed and grown, but people who live and visit the area have gotten along just fine for the past seven years with just the F stopping there late nights and weekends. The V doesn't run late nights or weekends and never has. Strange how you don't seem to have a problem with that. Also, much of the area's growth and change began years before the V went into service. Providing additional 2nd Avenue at Houston Street was never the MTA's purpose for implementing the V train. Their purpose was to funnel some Queens Boulevard express riders away from 53rd Street. They accomplished that by rerouting the F train into the newer 63rd Street tunnel and running the V through the 53rd St tunnel, which had the added side benefit of allowing some Queens Boulevard local riders direct service to the busy 53rd Street corridor. The only reason the V terminates at 2nd Avenue is because that is the only place to terminate it in Manhattan without fouling up B and D service. By the way, the neighborhood map on The Ludlow's own web site shows the building to be about the same distance away from Essex & Delancey as it is from 2nd Avenue. So the Ludlow's tenants can still catch the V train at Essex, if the MTA does decide to extend the V over the Williamsburg Bridge. Essex may be a little further away, but it ain't that much further away (I know, I've walked it). |

Just to let you know, the V is currently the most reliable line that serves Queens Boulevard. By implementing the M-V combo, expect the V line to be unreliable due to the delays the Willamsburg Bridge faces as well as those timers s/o Marcy Avenue. In addition, the reason why the F is so crowded into Delancey Street is due to the amount of people who get on s/o Jay Street & n/o Church Avenue. Since the whole M-V combo has been brought up, I'm more open to the V going to Church Avenue for three reasons:1. The V will continue to serve 2nd Avenue 2. The F line will be less crowded 3. Park Slope needs far more help than Middle Village and Ridgewood |

You just don't like the fact you're losing YOUR being able to sit on a V train at second avenue and now will have to stand on an F train that likely will be LESS crowded at 2nd Avenue as it will not longer be picking up many of the J/M riders, who instead of switching the F at Essex-Delancey will now stay on the V or switch to the V at Essex. |

Some will still do that until they get a morning where the V is right behind the J and just wait on the platform at Essex and take that, realizing the V is one less stop going up to midtown as there is no stop at 2nd Avenue on the new V as opposed to the F.Even without that, ex-M riders who made the transfer to the F at Essex-Delancey will simply stay on the V (unless they are taking the F in the opposite direction to East Broadway OR are specifically looking for 57th or 63rd-Lex, a transfer that can also be made at 47-50), and that alone will make for fewer passengers on the F when it gets to 2nd Avenue. |
