As said, it's because he DOESN'T WANT TO THINK SO!

He just does not get how the new V improves service for many people.

Speaking of the new line, one thing I would be looking at for instance if the C is on a G.O. on the weekends (and the V normally would only be a shuttle between Myrtle-Metropolitan) would be to have the V extended and replace the C going uptown. That would be a perfect way to test whether weekend service is warranted on the new V.
