Even though the IND planners had their reasons (misguided) ideas about service patterns, at almost every other potential junction in the system they created switches to allow alternate plans with minimal or no disruption.

The one glaring exception where a minor change could have allowed flexible alternatives is the Crosstown at Hoyt.
