Zimmerman's family says he is not white, but Hispanic, so the contention is it's not racial.

This isn't the first time something like this has come up in Florida. Some years back, in a short time frame, a white officer shot a Hispanic man, and a Hispanic officer shot a black man. But in the first care the Hispanic man was described as "Hispanic," but in the second case the Hispanic officer was described as "white."

Would it be possible to decide this case on the law and the facts, rather than race? I doubt it.
