Me too.Made tons of money in the market during the Bush years and did not get blown up by a terrorist attack.I retired at age 50 in 2001 when Bush took office. Now I've got to figure out stocks that will benefit from an 8 year Obama run. There will be sectors that benefit.if Cap and Trade goes in, wind power, solar and railroads should do well.Lot's of carbon spewing trucks can be repalced with a 100 car freight train!1. That we were NOT attacked under Bush since 9/11 is at least part coincidence; the ONLY way in which we can EVER be less safe is if all of the systems are completely dismantled. 2. The stocks that would benefit are probably the same ones that benefited under Bush 43; however, that there was an immense bubble that built up (i.e., stocks that were priced much more than their true worth) cannot be ruled out. 3. Cap and Trade is DEAD ON ARRIVAL in the Senate (remember that it only passed the House by 2 votes, 219-212 with four abstentions, with 8 Republicans needed just to get it through). I see at least 44-45 senators supporting a filibuster (Arlen Specter, Bob Casey, Jr., Blanche Lincoln, Mark Pryor, and Robert Byrd would likely lead the way). If you think this country is going to be THAT bad under Obama, think again, considering the above refutals. |
