Moreover, as Judge Bork's nomination to the US Supreme Court showed, even a nomination voted against by all members of the majority and one member of the minority can be reported out of committee.True but the Dems knew that they had the votes to straight out vote down Bork on the floor. That would have not been the case with Alito. A filibuster would have been the only way to block his confirmation. |
