In the late 1970s or early 1980s, there was a lawsuit over the FDNY test involving 40 women, who claimed that they were denied the opportunity to pursue their goals as firefighters (believing that they could pass the same tests as men). They won their lawsuit, and while most are retired now, some have shot up the ranks. |
