She will be an asset to the court.I have atypical views about who should serve on the Supreme Court, as my views here indicate. That said, were I in the Senate, for the reasons stated in the linked post, I would vote to confirm Judge Sotomayor's appointment, although I would not have appointed her. Not sure what "class of people" you were thinking of for SCOTUS (keeping in mind you would be limited to liberals) That and they can't be too old, and he probably wants someone who is already a judge. Well, how about Diane Wood on the 7th Circuit? I regard her as more sharp. Michael Dorf, formerly Professor at Columbia, now at Cornell, is not only exceedingly bright but excels at explaining law without tons of jargon, as readers of his popular column know. Plenty of other people I could rattle off, but what's the point? The President went with competence and politics over brilliance. |
