Addressing the energy bill (C&T) this time:The bill only squeaked through the House because of three Republicans in nuclear-plant heavy New Jersey (the state has four plants and relies on nuclear plant-produced electricity for more than half of its power needs). When it passes by such a slim margin, and there are Democrats in states where coal-mining is a critical part of the economy, you can expect a filibuster in the Senate. One such example is Robert Byrd...another may be Max Baucus. |
