The only way they are related is that just as the Mayor proposed to fund and operate the East River LRT, he could do the same for the Rockaway Beach right if way if he were so inclined. The 7 extension shows there are ways to get around the MTA when they do not want to do something. They were firmly against a 7 extension saying they would not fund it due to other more pressing priorities, but Blomberg got around that one. |

It is not stagnant. Old data is irrelevant today, any way you look at it. It is supplanted by more recent data. Only SBS supporters like yourself discount newer data in favor of older data that show what you want it to show. I notice how you conveniently ignore the B44 where the first years data was negative and therefore not revealed by the MTA. Yes pick and choose the data you want to show to substantiate your predetermined conclusions that SBS is the broad success you want it to be. Cite MTA statistics that show 99% of riders favor SBS. Just don't ask Q44 riders how they feel about the fare machines being out for three weeks and what they think of having to get off at the next stop and miss a bus everyday. Many are now avoiding the SBS altogether until the problems get fixed. And that is two week old data. Recent enough for you or will you dismiss it as useless anecdotes like you dismiss any negative news about SBS?The MTA and SOT first need to show they are capable of satisfactorily running these routes before they commit to more routes costing millions more to operate annually. |
