It is obvious they stoke the idea, since in 1974 when they renumbered Manhattan bus routes, they didn't think of it themselves but instead renumbered the routes the wanted to renumber using sequential numbers that were unused at the time with no regard to street operation.It wasn't until after I personally told it to the person in charge of deciding what the numbers should be, that they used the idea. So it is obvious that after initially rejecting the idea, he further thought about it and realized it wasn't as dumb as he originally thought. The other possibility is that someone else in his department also thought of the same idea, and when suggested to him by so neon from his own department, rather than from someone from outside of his department he was more inclined to accept it. Either way, he owed me a phone call that he changed his mind instead using what he said was a dumb idea. |

I only claimed 1984 for the M34 and M42 after it was shown that some of the other routes were changed later. After it was shown that those routes were changed in 1986, I no longer maintained 1984 for any of the renumberings. |

So quit rewriting what I wrote to prove your erroneous point that I am a liar.Whoever numbered the M14 for the 14th Street route was probably the first person who thought of it but no one else thought of continuing it to other streets as evidenced by the fact it wasn't done in the 1974 bus renumbering. And as far as you ever having an idea accepted by the MTA, most certainly that isn't the case because if it were, we would have heard about it numerous times given your tens of thousands of posts here. |

They were all repainted blue on the outside and yellow on the inside.That's not as terrible as it seems - those are the colors of New York State. That said, Pig's suggestion that every station look unique is definitely superior to any color coding. In a half-asleep stupor I once got off at 67th ave instead of 63rd drive because the color/tile band combination was identical, as well as the stairwell positioning. The only difference was, the stairwell I had lined up with was closed off with a chained gate at the top, boy was I confused! Once I realized my mistake the local had left and I had to wait for the next one... I can't have been the only one to screw that up! |

Perhaps spraypaint a colored line on the columns indicating how many stations away from the express stop you are. For example Elmhurst would have a blue column with 1 gold line, Grand av would have 2 gold lines, etc... |
