They were all repainted blue on the outside and yellow on the inside.That's not as terrible as it seems - those are the colors of New York State. That said, Pig's suggestion that every station look unique is definitely superior to any color coding. In a half-asleep stupor I once got off at 67th ave instead of 63rd drive because the color/tile band combination was identical, as well as the stairwell positioning. The only difference was, the stairwell I had lined up with was closed off with a chained gate at the top, boy was I confused! Once I realized my mistake the local had left and I had to wait for the next one... I can't have been the only one to screw that up! |
