When I had an R-32 on the QJ I didn’t blank the sign.

A number of stations on els were slightly relocated for dual contract reconstruction or other purposes. Prior to the Dual contracts the Fulton St el had a stop at Bway Jct (called at the time Manhattan Jct). When the entire ENY complex was rebuilt, the Fulton el had no stops between Rockaway Av and Atlantic Av although I don't understand why it didn’t. Looking at maps and photos of the area, it wouldn’t have been difficult.

There’s a lot with Broadway Junction that I don’t get why they were removed.

There was that, the crossunder for the Canarsie Line platforms and especially the Conway Street & Eastern Parkway exits...

Thanks for posting this. That old building on the other side of Broadway is still there but they apparently chopped off the top two floors:

I never got why that station is so close to the ground and has a crossunder, but Marcy Avenue doesn’t.

Marcy Avenue ends up being the only station on the Jamaica Line without a free transfer.

You know that's not true brah.
Even the R1/9 had QJ signs taped to their rolsigns.
The 16/32/38s had the Chrystie st era rollsigns placed .
However...they still lacked RJ NX on the 32 and 38s.

The 27/30s Did receive those markers.
The 16s received RJ signs on a few cars...and it was only on the new rollsigns.

Funny...cause ALL the new rollsigns had HH MM on them.
Thr MM never officially operated...but some KK trains DID run out of MET during the AM and PM rush.
Today...the "MM" operates from about 6am to 12am weekdays to 71 Continental ave.

Marcy was never rebuilt during the dual contracts so no crossunder was added. Unlike the other stations on the Bway el which were island platforms, Marcy was always outside platforms.

The R-1/9s assigned to the Eastern didn’t just have QJ taped to the roll signs they had actual QJ signs installed. The R-32s and 38s did receive RJ and NX signs because when I was a Tw/M at 59 St I saw trains of those cars displaying those signs. The wrinkle was that by the time those signs were installed on the cars that received them the NX and RJ had been eliminated.

I rode several R32's in 1968 and 1969, and old route signs were blanked. R27/30's got the new read outs rather quickly. R32's did not normally run on the Eastern Division, only as a fluke.

Only the R7 and R9 that headed east got them, along with fiberglass seats and blue/grey paint inside.

Yup.
Anything that ran to make service was latched together to make a train for the QB/QJ trains out of Stillwell.
In most cases, the usual assignments for those lines were the R27/30/30a cars.
The 42s were added in 1969-70.
However, like I said, anything would be used.Like a few sets of 32s on both lines.
A R38 on the QB,or even a set of R1/9.

The ONLY cars that didnt make it east was the R38/40/40m back then.
The 40s stayed in Queens.
Never had QJ signs..

True.
Marcy was suppose to be moved to Washington Plaza, with three tracks two platforms.

The R38's before the GOH has brake release that sounded like a Bronx cheer. (I don't know the technical term). I once heard one leaving Woodhaven Blvd station, ran out of a store to see, but could not.

The D train's R1's never ran on the QJ, only the ones converted for ENY use.

I know about the dispute over the WillyB plaza but I was never sure whether it was supposed to replace Marcy or be built in addition to it.

Speaking of which, why has the portion of the el over the bus plaza always been ballast filled as opposed to the stanfard open deck ?

Yes, the WillyB Plaza was supposed to replace the Marcy Ave station.
The plan to relocate the station over the trolley plaza was probably a factor in closing the Broadway Ferry spur on July, 3rd, 1916.

Both Driggs Ave and Marcy Ave had side platforms. The old signal tower would have needed sight distance for trains from Broadway Ferry and the shuttle turnback track over Keap St, just east of Marcy.
