Under NYS law,wooden EL cars were banned from the subways after a certain year[the date escapes me]so the C types could not operate into the subway.Steve: It would be interesting to see the full text of that law because wooden BU and Q cars continued to operate into the underground IRT Main Street Terminal until 1949.
