Posted by Express Rider on Sat Aug 24 15:34:52 2019 IND cars on the BMT during the early years (1930-31 & late 1940s): I'm including photos from these eras below, from nycsubway.org. These have all been viewed by people here many times, but just thought I'd include them since this has been discussed recently in threads.There's at least one other photo of an R-1 with a BMT #4 front destination sign at Stillwell Ave., next to a BMT Standard, that I could not find, either at the site, transit museum photo archives, or by google image search. R-1 #103 - Sea Beach Line 1930-1931 (George Conrad collectionn)  R-9 #1759 - 39th/Beebe Aves. 1952 (David Pirmann collection)  R1-9s Astoria bound at 34th Street/Herald Square (David Pirmann collection)  R-1 #170 - Queensborough Plaza (Ed Watson/Arthur Lonto Collection/ collection of Frank Pfuhler  R-1 #129 - Queensborough Plaza (George Conrad Collection) Notes: Former north side of Queensborough Plaza- 4th Ave local service terminating at QBP. R1 cars on loan to BMT, would return to IND in late 1948 for Euclid service. Photo probably during 1948. Foreground track would become Astoria BMT track.  |
