No, I went cheap this morning.... $1 Breakfast burrito and $1 Sausage McMuffin....the best deal in town. I haven't eaten breakfast at MdD in months, but when I was away I noticed the new breakfast dollar menu, and tried it, and it's good! The burrito is thick and full, and I always liked McMuffins, but never felt they were worth the $3.... Now I have been going there almost twice a week, just for a quick breakfast....and cheap! No shake though! |

It's so odd, as the NYC Metro Area is the only place where they don't do the mustard....you go as far as just north of Westchester and the mustard begins automatically. The city and Long Island, and perhaps close parts of New Jersey are the only place I know of in the country where it's not done. You order a cheeseburger in "Vermont" or "Florida" at Burger King (or wherever) and there's mustard on it.. |

Yes, last time I went to a McDonald's in Stamford, Ct. there was mustard on their burgers. I don't know where the dividing line is...BTW, back in the 80's there was one McDonald's in New York City that experimented with mustard on the burgers. The location on Rockaway Parkway and Conklin Avenue in Canarsie. I don't recall it personally, but a guy I met years later told me he worked there at the time. |

I was driving to Atlanta in the late '70's. The Interstate was not finished in many areas so one had to take local roads. Well, hunger got the better of me, I rounded a corner, saw a hamburger stand, and stopped (very few chains for fast-food in those days; or at least not yet over-saturating the landscape).Something tasted different about the burger, NYC born and bred that I am. When I looked, I noticed the mustard. Not a bad addition to a burger once once gets used to it (along with ketchup, pickles, onions, usw, of course). |

Not if one has been raised on ketchup only on burgers as in NYC. Mustard is for hot dogs (tho my son will only eat franks with ketchup, yuk; no mustard need apply; nor onions, or kraut {racist word?), or chili). To find a combination of mustard and ketchup for the first time on a burger is a new sensation for one's taste buds (and I should have mentioned earlier that I was in Virginia for that burger stop). Some like it, and some don't I guess. Full disclosure: at home I will put steak sauce on my burgers; ketchup maybe; and if there is some mustard laying around and I remember it, I'll add it to the ketchup (not to the steak sauce; that stands or falls on its own). |

On ham sandwiches yes; on roast beef, no (prefer mayo in that case).I was only trying to distinguish between the two most popular and available fast foods when I grew up in NYC: burgers and franks. (LOL, I can't put dates here, I'm still growing up.) Ketchup on burgers; mustard on franks (with all that other stuff I mentioned before as optional). All the rest came later, and there is nothing wrong with that (gyro, falafel, burrito, taco, and on and on). |

I love mustard on sandwiches and heros too. I like mustard, especially spicy mustard. It's funny, when I was a kid, I didn't even like mustard. And I grossly ate ketchup on my hot dogs. (Yuck, it must be a kid thing). But once I started liking mustard, I like it on lots of things. I remember the first time I had mustard on a Burger King Cheesburger when I was a teenager, and had one in Vermont...luckily I was "warned" by another NYC native I was with... Now I wish NYC area would do it. (Long Island doesn't either) |

I used to like ketchup a lot more. I don't dislike it, but I sort of outgrew it. While I will sometimes put ketchup on a burger and have it with my fries in a restaurant (so long as it's thick Heinz), I have come to like barbecue sauce on my burgers better. I even dip my fries in it when it's available.I often skip the ketchup nowadays. |

The whole discussion has always been about the metro area. This makes senseYou're right. When I saw the Shake in 2008 in Florida, then went to NYC, I noticed that it was not sold in any of the five boroughs, and assumed it was just NYC proper. Then I called and e-mailed McDonald's and got this: Because it is a 'local' promotion that is voted in by the Owner/Operators within a TV market, and the 5 Boro licensees did not support it because generally speaking, the city consumer does not buy it. Mary Steidl Director of Operations Field Service New York Region McDonald's USA, LLC 973-287-1478 I don't know if 5 boro means Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, and the Bronx, plus Long Island and NENJ. Sounds like it's just The City. I did speak to Steidl last year, and she said it was not going to be sold anywhere in the Metropolitan area. I wonder what will happen this year. It would be funny if only the locations within NYC limits don't have it. |
