I find this very typical of McDonald's in the Bronx. Probably because of the attitudes of people living IN the Bronx. If the manager has no problem with such an attitude, then they won't notice or care when their employees display such attitudes as well. While in Tower Operator training at the school at East 180 Street Station in the Bronx, I often ate at the McDonald's on East Tremont Avenue & Devoe Avenue. These bitchy teenage girls were always behind the counter, and when I asked for my special-order hamburgers, they'd always give me an attitude. Asking for extra ketchup would also produce an equally snotty result. The one time in which I dealt with their manager about how I wanted the burgers, she rudely took care of what I wanted, and then told me she'd never do it for me again. I bit my lip. I could've told her off, and told her that a manager should never address a customer like that, but there's no winning against low-class morons like that. |

I used to eat there in the 70's when I was a cab driver. It was basically a cab driver's hangout. You paid the same way you did at Katz', going through a turnstile and getting a ticket as you came in and everything you bought they'd either punch the ticket or write on it. |

Last Saturday, I went to the McDonalds on East Tremont Avenue (short lunch break, had to catch ToMC). I ordered a burger which was listed on the menu as 89 cents. The total they gave me was $1.07. When I pointed out that this couldn't possibly be correct, and the total should be just under $1, the clerk told me that $1.07 is the price that came up for a burger when she pushed the corresponding button on the cash register, and she couldn't do anything about it.You'd be surprised how big a difference some ten-odd cents can make when you have exactly one dollar on your person, the place is very crowded, the time is running short, and your bank is starting to get really pissy about you making withdrawals at non-that particular bank's ATMs. Luckily, someone on line nearby offered the 7 cents so I could get out of there. I demand better treatment! I'm a shareholder, damn it! I don't care if this is (on its surface and slightly out of context) even more petty than NPD's dispute over 50 cents. And incidentally, 50 cents was the total amount of my last dividend check. Makes me glad that most of my money is invested in an UTM fund. |

And it's no exaggeration either....Since the transfat ban in NYC, fires are inedible. I don't like McDonalds in general (I don't really dislike it, just don't think it's nearly as good as other choices), but really like their fries. Whatever oil the fast food places in NYC use now make that inedible. Now you don't even have that. Plus you don't have good fast food choices in general with no Jacks, no Carls, no In-n-out, etc. Sure!!! Rub that in!!! |

In theory I agree with you, but again, since they offer it, they should do it "with a smile". I know a couple people that won't eat raw tomatoes (One being my GF!). (I don't get that, but hey to each their own), so every time I eat with one of them, it's always the "hold the tomato". And HEAVEN forbid a tomato passes through.... I once went to pick up taco bell for my girlfriend and I, and forgot to say "hold the tomatoes" (who would do such a thing - I still don't get the not eating of tomatoes!). LOL, you know what happened to me when I got home of course...."The put tomatoes on here!!!" How can I eat this!!! She then started picking them all out (yeah, that's easy on a burrito, lol). I just stood there in horror...., and said "That damn kid at the drive thru".....with a half assed smirk on my face, because I knew I forgot to say "hold the tomato" on her stuff.... "That damn kid"..... :) |

Saw a food program on Channel 13 last week. A food expert tasted four steaks and told his opinion. His favorite came from some Mail Order firm and cost $140 a pound. I think it was Brandts or something like that. His second favorite turned out to some steak picked out at the local supermarket. For number three, he picked a steak from Japan that cost $190 a pound. The one he liked least which he thought had no flavor at all, turned out to be from Peter Luger's in Williamsburg.I ate there once and also was very disappointed in the steak there. I've had much better elsewhere. But they had the best spinach I ever ate and the cake which they bought from some bakery in Little Italy also was excellent. |

I went to the Stop and Shop Super Market a few weeks ago and was triple charged for some napkins which the clerk had ran through the scanner three times because I guess he didn't think the first two times registered. I doubt it was intentional. Anyway the bill seemed a little high for what I bought so I decided to check the bill right in the store before I left the register. When I told him of the error, he immediately refunded the money to me. But when I told him there also was the matter of the sales tax, he looked at me quizzically. It was then that I realized this employee did not understand the concept of sales tax.Everything was settled satisfactorily at the courtesy counter. I actually did him a favor by complaining, because he refunded me six dollars without making any entries into the register and would have been short by that amount at the end of the day. Must have been his first day on the job. |

Whatever idiot read the order figured the one dollar was for the first hash brown even though it was included in the combo. Then later at the same drive thru I ordered the same thing and the display said two apple pies, which cost the same so I didn't care. When I came up to the window they gave me two apple pies, I complained and they gave me two hash browns so I had three. So that made up for it. |

Paranoid, perhaps, but you can't be sure what a pissed off cook might do if they see their 'work' sent back. Some of them may take it the wrong way and 'add stuff' in it. I agree with Chris on this. |
