I went to the Stop and Shop Super Market a few weeks ago and was triple charged for some napkins which the clerk had ran through the scanner three times because I guess he didn't think the first two times registered. I doubt it was intentional. Anyway the bill seemed a little high for what I bought so I decided to check the bill right in the store before I left the register. When I told him of the error, he immediately refunded the money to me. But when I told him there also was the matter of the sales tax, he looked at me quizzically. It was then that I realized this employee did not understand the concept of sales tax.Everything was settled satisfactorily at the courtesy counter. I actually did him a favor by complaining, because he refunded me six dollars without making any entries into the register and would have been short by that amount at the end of the day. Must have been his first day on the job. |
