Posted by Nilet on Thu Jun 25 06:35:52 2009, in response to Don't get ripped off at McDonalds like I almost did., posted by Newkirk Plaza David on Wed Jun 24 14:00:17 2009. Last Saturday, I went to the McDonalds on East Tremont Avenue (short lunch break, had to catch ToMC). I ordered a burger which was listed on the menu as 89 cents. The total they gave me was $1.07. When I pointed out that this couldn't possibly be correct, and the total should be just under $1, the clerk told me that $1.07 is the price that came up for a burger when she pushed the corresponding button on the cash register, and she couldn't do anything about it.You'd be surprised how big a difference some ten-odd cents can make when you have exactly one dollar on your person, the place is very crowded, the time is running short, and your bank is starting to get really pissy about you making withdrawals at non-that particular bank's ATMs. Luckily, someone on line nearby offered the 7 cents so I could get out of there. I demand better treatment! I'm a shareholder, damn it! I don't care if this is (on its surface and slightly out of context) even more petty than NPD's dispute over 50 cents. And incidentally, 50 cents was the total amount of my last dividend check. Makes me glad that most of my money is invested in an UTM fund. |
