Yes, it's obvious that alcohol is not a nutrient of concern for certain ethnic groups.

Meanwhile, the R110-B is at the NYCT in Brooklyn.

On my end I have no issues with you. You're just wrong about pork and alcohol.

Lard(Re: The Spider-Pig Diet)

Lard.

When you think of foods that are fattening and clog arteries, lard, bacon, and butter come to mind.

Lard, in particular, is a product that isn't always easy to find. And if you do, it's just one name brand, Armour, and it's highly processed. It will be hydrogenated with several added ingredients.

As an ingredient, I never ever see it in processed food. Even baked products like cookies and cakes.

On shelves it's getting harder and harder to find.

For example, I went to Stop-N-Shop in Glendale. Both locations. One on Myrtle and the one on Union Turnpike next to the LIRR Rockaway ROW where I did some observing of the abandoned line.

Stop-N-Shop does not carry lard. What the fuck? Seriously. While visiting family in Pennsylvania, it was similar. Giant and Weis didn't carry lard. One ShopRite did and the other didn't.

So I'm asking my fellow chatters, to check for lard on your next shopping trip, and let me know if your supermarket carries it. And if so, what brand(s).

I'm busy trying to fill out the lined forms that the Honorable Salaam Allah posts every couple weeks but so far I am unsuccessful. I have decided on principle not to provide answers to his questions or otherwise participate in those threads unless and until I am able to complete those forms. It should not be that difficult and that is why it is so frustrating. I am trying everything. Once I figure it out, I'll get back to you re. lard availability since I'll be in a ShopRite early next week.

thanks.

You're a Queens guy so it will be interesting.

I didn't find lard in Glendale, but oddly it was available in Rego Park.

I forgot, Wegman's also doesn't have lard.

I've heard one reason is that there really isn't enough to supply every supermarket with lard. Supposedly pigs have been bred to be leaner because people want less fat meat, so they produce less lard.

Another reason supermarkets don't carry it is because people think it's unhealthy. And people don't cook with it as much.

I always wondered why American Indians seemed to be hypersensitive to the effects of alcohol? Many years ago, Seagram's put up billboards advertising their whisky saying, "Find out why they called it firewater". Is showed a feather wearing Native American in the ad with a stern look on his face with a bottle of Seagram's 7 shown near. One such billboard was on Woodside Ave right above the Woodside LIRR station. American Indian groups screamed like hell in protest and soon the billboard ads came down.

HBD. Human Biodiversity. They are not genetically adapted to tolerate alcohol amounts like northern European groups.

You can include Mexicans and Central Americans with Indians. Many of them are Indians known as Mestizo in their Census questionnaire.

Perfect neighborhood for that billboard.

I guess. Some people just don't like hydrogenated lard for health reasons.

So they prefer lard from a local butcher instead of the big brands like Armour.

It was so odd when Stop-N-Shop didn't have lard.

I know Glendale isn't as German and Italian as it once was but I figured I'd find it.

Lard is usually sold in the cooking oil aisle with all the vegetable oils like soybean oil, corn oil, canola oil, etc...

Armour is the main brand and it also says "Manteca" on the box.

Yes. Perfect neighborhood for a whiskey billboard.

It's not random. The advertising agency strategically placed it there.

Large Irish population and a high concentration of bars.

Woodside had a ton of bars. So did Sunnyside. I call it Sunniside now.

I didn't know what whiskey was until Conor McGregor started promoting it in UFC. To this day I don't know what it looks like, smells like, or tastes like. And I probably never will.

The LIRR Rockaway ROW will be revitalized into Queenslink before I try whiskey.

The Ad agency placed the advertisement directly next to the LIRR ROW completely intended to be visible to Long Island (and Flushing line) commuters, its target markets.
You try to sell a product to a market where it doesn't sell well, as in Nassau & Suffolk Co.'s
Why try and sell a product and spend big advertising $$$ in an area that already has established sales?
I never saw that billboard ad anywhere else.

It's almost impossible to find lard that isn't processed.

Especially at the supermarket.

Some butcher shops have it but they run out and you have to wait for another batch.

Whole Foods has EPIC brand lard, tallow, and duck fat. It's expensive and in a jar. They say it isn't processed.

No I'm not. The CORRECT American way is with the "E". It's akin to the BRT/BMT having signs that stated "centre" instead of "center". Anyhow, this is being made into way too big of a non-point issue. In closing, Scotch is better than Irish whiskey.

Not to mention, "uisce/uisge" simply means "water" whereas the phrase meaning whisk(e)y is "uisge/uisge beatha", literally "water of life" (cf French eau de vie, Latin aqua vitae).

Chris R16 is from Woodhaven and used to post about it.

Anyway I went on a food haul for a relative today.

First I went to Manor Deli. The owner had Irish music on for St Patrick's Day. Even though it's a German style deli the owner is Irish. He also owns Oktoberfest on Yellowstone Blvd and I think he still has a restaurant at Atlas Park mall in Glendale.

Anyway Jamaica Ave was seedy. Some guys stared me down. Looked like Salvadorans.

Then I went to Knickerbocker in Bushwick. Lots of construction on the M structure.

Also noticed how secure the ROW is at Park Lane South. Fencing and barbed wire is maitained probably to protect the condominium.

Then I went to Bushwick. The tower at Myrtle-Wyckoff is gone. When was it removed?

Major project on Myrtle Ave El. There are long sheets of metal underneath the length of the structure.

Lots of hipsters on Knickerbocker Ave. Definitely Democrats who want Cuomo to replace Adams.
