I didn't find lard in Glendale, but oddly it was available in Rego Park. I forgot, Wegman's also doesn't have lard. I've heard one reason is that there really isn't enough to supply every supermarket with lard. Supposedly pigs have been bred to be leaner because people want less fat meat, so they produce less lard. Another reason supermarkets don't carry it is because people think it's unhealthy. And people don't cook with it as much. |
