One could, if not for the fact that the Irish Gaelic spelling is slightly different too (uisce).

Not to mention, "uisce/uisge" simply means "water" whereas the phrase meaning whisk(e)y is "uisge/uisge beatha", literally "water of life" (cf French eau de vie, Latin aqua vitae).
